Can someone explain to me why I need to change 20% of the water in my aquarium every week? That seems like a lot and probably bad for the fish.

There are many reasons, but in general you are pulling out chemicals that are harmful to the fish.

hi all

yes you need to do weekly water changers to take out harmful chemicals as confusion says, fish pooh etc, also helps to keep algae levels dowm as well, keeping a plec or two will also help with algae, hope this helps bills.
