Coldwater/Ponds / Large koi caught in France

Now, keep in mind that the picture is somewhat deceiving.  The camera is pretty close to the fish, and the man holding it must have his arms outstretched.  Still, it is a huge and beautiful fish.  I do hope it survived being hooked.

There is an excellent writeup on stocking a 55g cichlid aquarium here.

Freshwater Tropical Fish Discussions / Stocking African cichlids in a 55g aquarium

I recently got a new 55g aquarium and want to set it up as an African cichlid tank. I don't know much about them, other than they're aggressive and should be overstocked. What advice can you give me?

I added an air pump and within about 20 minutes, the fish were breathing normally.

It sounds like the water either has too much CO2, or not enough O2.  From looking at your other posts, I see you use canister filters, and I bet there isn't sufficient surface agitation to pull in more exygen.  Try putting in an airstone/air pump and let us know what happens.

Freshwater Tropical Fish Discussions / Fish breathing fast and hard at the top of my tank
« Last post by tj on August 29, 2010, 01:48:26 pm »
I have a 125g tank with angels and misc other fish. I have had 3 die in the past day, and the rest are breathing fast and hard, mostly at the top of the tank. I checked my ammonia/nitrite/nitrate and all are at the bottom end of the range. I change about 50% of the water weekly and have plants.  Can someone please give me an idea of what's wrong?

Thanks!

No idea how much it costs, but that would look really nice in my pond.
